Originating from the Punjab area of India as well as Pakistan, Bhangra is a combination of music, folk dance and the unmistakable beating of dums. Some of the common instruments used are the iktar, tumbi and the dhol drum, which together bring out the unique style of Bhangra. Another smaller type of drum, the dholki, is also used in certain Bhangra music, which provides the main beat throughout the song. Bhangra albums are very popular especially among the Punjabi people and are continuing to grow elsewhere.
